FIFTH MEETING FOR RFQ COOLER AND BUNCHER AT ISOLDE
PROJECT
Present: T. Giles, M. Lindroos, A. Jokinen, I. Podadera, D.
Porret
Vacuum layout:
- The use of only one forepump for all the turbopumps
would imply less contamination and will improve the safety. It would be
cheaper.
- As the flow in the forepumps is not very low in our
case, Ari proposes that the main turbopump has its own forepump and the other
two pumps are connected to the existing ISOLDE system.
Mechanical:
- Everyone agree that it’s better to remove the first
insulator with the trailer. It’s not due to remove the trailer more than once
every year. If it’s necessary a protection could be thought for this
insulator.
- The size that will occupy the controls (vacuum,
electronics,…) must be verified.
Control:
- The synchronization between the proton pulse and the
bunching electrodes could be made using triggers. All has to be coupled to
protons (REXTRAP is already coupled).
- For some experiments is better to optimize RFQ that
means they will be an input of the control system.
Next meeting in date to be confirmed.
